Whether it's to go shopping, to work, or just down the street, people need to get where they need to go somehow.  Some people walk.  Some people drive their own cars.  Others take public transportation.

Public transportation is the focus of this Web site, be it bus, rail, or otherwise.  Often run by governments, it's a good way to get people from here to there.  In many cities, traffic is an issue.  Public transportation helps take cars off the road, thus eliminating congestion, as well as the emissions that those extra cars would otherwise create.  Additionally, public transportation helps move those who don't own their own transportation or where using their own transportation would be impractical.  In college towns, public transportation often helps move students to and from class from dorms and apartments.

On this site, not owned or operated by any transit agency, we do not present information on day-to-day operations such as timetables, delays, and the like.  For that, I would recommend visiting the official Web site of the transit agency in question.  On this site, we hope to convey the magic of the public transit experience for both the serious transit enthusiast and casual onlooker.
