University Transit Service, also known as UTS, is the University of Virginia's own bus service, separate from CTS and JAUNT. It takes people to various points around the grounds, to the hospital, and various points around UVA. The vast majority of UTS's drivers are UVA students.
In numbering the buses, every digit of the four-digit number has a meaning. The first digit is for the bus's make and year. The second digit is the number for the bus itself. Then the last two digits are the bus's seated capacity. Thus for bus #8138, the 8 indicates that the bus is a 1988 Orion I (though the number starting with 8 and the bus being a 1988 is coincidental). The 1 indicates that this is bus 1 in that order. And according to the number, the bus will seat 38 people. This bus would be referred to as simply "81".
