Harrisonburg Transit

Harrisonburg Transit is a small bus system designed primarily for transporting students at James Madison University to and from campus and student housing, as well as around town. As such, the routes are very JMU-oriented, with the hub of the system being at JMU's Godwin Hall, in the center of campus. As of winter 2005, the fleet consists primarily of Thomas-Built and Gillig Advantage buses.

Your Webmaster rode Harrisonburg Transit for all four and a half years of his time as a student at JMU, and remembers it fondly.

Category: DuponTrolley buses

Date: 2002-02-09

Comments: The trolley buses were purchased in 2001 to be used as an around-town shuttle for senior citizens, but somehow, one of the two trolley buses ended up seeing service on the regular routes. As of 2005, the trolleys were no longer used in their intended service due to complaints about the seats (they are wooden benches). The trolleys are now used for special events, as well as the Shopper route.
