Breda Cars

Breda cars, manufactured by the Italian company Breda Costruzioni Ferroviarie S.p.A., came in at three different times. The 2000-series cars, numbered 2000-2075, arrived in 1982. The 3000-series cars, numbered 3000-3289, arrived in 1986. The 4000-series cars, numbered 4000-4099, arrived in 1991. Bredas have a similar color scheme inside as the Rohrs do, but instead of the grained pattern, it's a plain cream color. Bredas also have brown rubber handrails on the seats, rather than metal ones like the Rohrs. On the exterior, the cab windows do not go all the way up, and the border around the windows are black rubber. The windows are squared off on the 2000 and 3000 series cars, and rounded on the 4000 series cars. Bredas had flip-dot signs from the start. As originally manufactured, the Breda 3000-Series and 4000-Series cars are auditorily distinguishable by the buzzing sound their motors made. The Breda 2000 and 3000 series cars were rehabilitated by Alstom in Hornell, New York. The rehabilitated cars are listed in a separate section.
