Vienna

Vienna/Fairfax-GMU is a Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia on the Orange Line. This is the western terminus of the Orange Line. Service began on June 7, 1986. The station was originally named Vienna, but was renamed in 1999.

The station is physically located in Oakton, though the station's official address is in Fairfax, in the median of Interstate 66 at Nutley Street. The station can be accessed from I-66 without merging onto Nutley Street via a series of ramps that transport commuters directly to the station's parking complexes.

Comments: Vending machines for SmarTrip cards. In June 2004, with the introduction of a SmarTrip-only cashless parking system, these vending machines were installed in all Metro stations that have a parking facility. You put $10 in the machine, and get a SmarTrip card with $5.00 in value already on it.

Comments: The one flaw with the SmarTrip machines is that they do not accept twenty-dollar bills. If you feed it a twenty, it will take your money, and give you nothing in return except for a receipt for the twenty dollars.
